4 Easy Tips For Getting Things Done and Beating Procrastination

Procrastination is a problem that many people face, but we're here with 5 easy strategies that can help you to become more productive and less likely to put things off!

Time blocking is one effective way to overcome procrastination. It involves setting aside specific blocks of time for each task on your to-do list, allowing you to focus your energy and attention on one task at a time. This technique is especially helpful for creative individuals who tend to flit from one thing to the next and have trouble finishing tasks.

To implement time blocking, you can either schedule chunks of time in your calendar for each task you need to complete, or block out whole ‘themed’ days for specific tasks.

Be realistic about how long each task will take, and don't forget to include breaks and time for unexpected interruptions. If you don't complete a task in the time allotted, move it to a later time slot instead of abandoning it altogether. Want to learn more about Time Blocking? Keeping a running to-do list is another helpful strategy for combating procrastination. You can use a physical paper-based list or an app on your phone or computer.

Some popular apps for managing to-do lists include To-doist, Trello, Asana, and Teamwork. Experiment with different tools to find the one that works best for you.

The key to successfully using a to-do list is to keep it visible and check items off as you complete them. This will give you a sense of accomplishment and help you stay motivated.

Being accountable to someone else can also help to keep you on track and focused.

Consider partnering with a business coach, mentor, personal assistant, or colleague who can hold you accountable for completing your tasks. Choose someone who will check in with you regularly and ask about your progress.

Finally, if you're struggling to get started on a task, try breaking it down into smaller, more manageable parts. This will make the task seem less daunting and help you to get started. Once you've completed the first part, move on to the next one, and so on. Before you know it, you'll have completed the entire task without even realising it!

Procrastination is a common problem, but there are many strategies you can use to overcome it. Try implementing these tips and see what works best for you. Remember, the key to success is to stay focused, motivated, and disciplined. We cover even more productivity hacks in Episode 9 of the Get Savvy podcast! Check it out below.
